I presume that this means that the ID cards are now dead?
If this Government is so riddled with security problems (-remember the illegal immigrants given jobs in security without a check?), how can they look after the records of 60 million people, assuming that the system ever gets off the ground and works?
As somebody said on another site today, this lot could not run a bath!

According to today's papers, Darling and Brown have been rather "economical" with the truth. Some senior people in HMRC knew more than is being admitted, perhaps authorised the posting of CDs. The knowledge may even reach to ministerial level. If so, expect the ministers to wriggle out over the course of time, by landing the civil servants in the sh.t.
I'm sure there's more to come out yet.
